Greenhouses are one of the most efficient and cost-effective ways to grow plants year round, no matter what climate you live in. However, choosing the right material for your greenhouse can be a daunting task. Do you go with glass, plastic or polycarbonate? Glass
The oldest and most traditional building material used for greenhouses is glass. This type of material has been around for hundreds of years and is still being used today due to its durability, strength and affordability. Glass is also well-insulated, allowing for maximum heat retention during cold winter months. On the downside, glass is vulnerable to cracking or breaking if not properly treated or handled. Polycarbonate

This type of material is composed of two layers of polyester film sandwiched between two layers of polycarbonate sheets which offer superior insulation properties while still letting plenty of sunlight in through its transparent design. Polycarbonate greenhouses are also highly resistant to both extreme temperatures and inclement weather conditions such as hail storms or high winds – making them ideal for outdoor use in any climate zone. The main drawback with plastic greenhouses however is that they are less durable than those made from glass or polycarbonate – meaning they may need replacing sooner than expected if not given proper care and attention throughout their lifespan.
When it comes down to choosing the right material for your greenhouse, it all depends on your budget, needs and desired end result. Glass provides excellent durability but may be too heavy and expensive for some users; polycarbonate offers superior insulation but may be more expensive than other materials; finally, plastic is affordable but may not last as long as other materials when exposed to extreme weather conditions over time..
